home security systems wireless

Every home is different, and so is every homeowner’s security needs. Like most technical services, you can pay for professionals to craft your home security system or you can take matters into your own hands. DIY home security means you customize your device kit, self install, and then monitor alerts from your sensors and video feed. Self monitoring is the common difference between DIY and traditional security, but there are plenty of companies that strike a happy medium between both. We looked at providers offering pure DIY as well as those offering professional monitoring, either de facto or as an upgrade. We required all systems to have Z Wave Support — the most universal mesh network for communicating appliance to appliance. One of the biggest draws of a DIY system is the opportunity to add in third party equipment like Philips Hue lights or a Nest Thermostat at any point. Z Wave is available in over 2,400 home security and automation devices from more than 700 companies. Plus, you have flexibility in where you place various devices because Z Wave can communicate farther distances than other protocols — like Wi Fi, for example — since it functions by sharing an Internet connection between devices as opposed to a localized router. Ultimately, we wanted systems that could integrate seamlessly into our homes and improve our quality of life. To find which fit the bill, we spent a day outfitting a 1,900 square foot home with the equipment of our finalists.

”Boyce, a former executive with publicly traded Convergys Corp. and Procter and Gamble, said of Defenders: “I’ve never been anywhere where the commitment to grow talent personally and professionally has been so high. It’s real and tangible. ”To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the company rolled out generous employee perks: It is awarding $20,000 each month this year to one employee who exemplifies the company’s passion or core values. Additionally, it is each month choosing two employees involved in a charitable cause and rewarding them with $20,000 apiece to donate to the charity of their choice. Defenders also created the Super Service Challenge, encouraging employees to submit videos of their service to a not for profit. Each quarter, the company donates $20,000 to the charity whose video gets the most votes. The second reason for Defenders’ growth, Boyce said, is the company’s focus. The third is its tested systems, which create consistent high quality and predictable service, he said. And the fourth reason, he added, is the company’s effort to build relationships. “We believe God made us for relationships,” Boyce said.

Even if you are on a tight budget, you can take steps to ensure that you and your home are nearly as secure as the most fortified palaces. The Brilliant Control is a unique wall switch that uses Wi Fi to connect to and control various smart devices in your home. It has a 5 inch color touch screen with user friendly button controls that let you play music, control lighting, set thermostat temperatures, and see who is at your door, among other things. It works with many popular smart home platforms including Ecobee, Nest, Philips Hue, Ring, and Sonos, and it has built in Amazon Alexa voice support that allows it to do almost everything an Echo device can do. It's fairly pricey and requires wiring knowledge to install, but it's a smart addition to a high tech home. The iCamera Keep Pro from iSmartAlarm $199. 99 is a full featured home security camera that not only works as a standalone device, but can be incorporated into an iSmartAlarm DIY security system. The camera is full of useful features including a powerful 1080p image sensor, motion and sound detection, mechanical pan and tilt, time lapse and event triggered video recording, and a motion tracking feature that allows the camera to follow a person around the room. Throw in free cloud storage, an SD card slot for local storage, and support for IFTTT integration, and you've got a killer indoor security cam. Founded by former Amazon employees, Wyze Labs has been around for less than two years, but in that time it's managed to snag two Editors' Choice awards for its first two product offerings, the original Wyze Cam and its successor, the Wyze Cam V2. The company's latest offering, the Wyze Cam Pan, continues the trend.
